Dan Leahy was a staunch supporter of Speech and Debate for all students.  He believed that all students should have access to education that would make them critical thinkers, articulate speakers and advocates for their communities. Following his unexpected death in 2021 at the age of 39, Dan's family created the Dan Leahy Scholarship Fund to help further advance his passion. Dan was a proud Girl Scout Dad. Selling cookies during a pandemic was no joke. Dan, his girl scout, and some recruited friends walked many miles in their hometown to spread the word and leave flyers about her cookie sales. She had record years in 2021 and 2022 thanks to your support!

Other Things About Dan

Dan was more than a speech and debate supporter. He was:
  • a beloved son, an older brother, a goofy dad, a witty husband
  • a law student who wanted to use policy to change the world
  • a huge space fan and Trekkie who believed in a better tomorrow
  • an avid Oakland Athletics Fan
  • a dedicated New Orleans Saints Fan
  • always dreaming of travel--both domestic and international
  • civic minded and cared about his community
  • a huge fan of cheese plates (loved Blue Cheese with Honey!)
  • constantly drinking Coca-Cola Classic
  • a lover of crème brûlée and cheesecake
  • a supporter of local restaurants:
